Virtual Reality Sports to Celebrate 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games

The client: Scentre Group has interests in, and operates, Australia and New Zealand's largest shopping centre portfolio, Westfield shopping centres.

Challenge: How to bring sports under one roof during 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games?

- Better customer experience
- More social media shares
- Keeping both kids and adults entertained

Solution: We suggested virtual reality (VR) sports (basketball, table tennis, skiing in the mountains). We also provided a VR bike to offer bike race simulation. Virtual reality experiences were displayed on large screens to engage with the maximum number of onlookers.

Outcome: Approximately 1,600 kids and adults had fun participating in the various challenging activities. We had a considerable number of kids coming back to the shopping centre to break their own records. Many people socially shared photos and videos of the VR activations, which we loved to see!
