Middleton Beach Festival – City of Albany

The client: City of Albany. Albany is a city at the southern tip of Western Australia. It's known for its beaches, such as popular Middleton Beach.

Challenge: What enjoyable activities can entertain people of all ages, both locals and tourists, during a 7-day beach festival? How can we inspire attendees to come back, surpass their previous VR gaming achievements, and participate in competitive challenges for a chance to win exciting prizes?

Goals:

  • To keep locals and tourists entertained
  • To create a memorable event experience
  • To create a sense of excitement and novelty
  • To enhance overall attendees’ satisfaction

Solution: During the event, we offered a variety of immersive experiences using both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to entertain attendees. With VR, people of all ages could explore underwater environments and observe a diverse range of sea animals. On the other hand, AR allowed children to unleash their creativity by designing sea creatures and bringing them to life using mobile phones or tablets. To encourage repeat event attendance and engage returning visitors, we curated a diverse selection of VR activities for each day and organized thrilling VR tournaments. At the conclusion of each day's tournament, the council awarded prizes to the victorious participants.

Outcome: The tournaments added a festive atmosphere, offering an exciting platform for both locals and tourists to indulge in VR games and sports, igniting a sense of inspiration. Numerous families eagerly supported their children's participation, driven by the desire to secure prizes. Attendees were pleasantly surprised by the immersive nature of the underwater experience, leaving them captivated. The event organizers expressed satisfaction with the quality of our VR/AR services.
